The systems manufactured by Battery Backup Power, Inc. are scalable which means you can add or remove external battery packs to increase or decrease the backup time to the desired time.
The Plug And Play 6 kVA / 6,000 Watt Power Conditioner, Voltage Regulator, & Battery Backup UPS With Built In Isolation Transformer With 2 External Battery Packs is the most popular freezer backup and is compatible with virtually every refrigerator and freezer available on the market (120 volt or 240 volt) and typically provides 8-9 hours of backup power to most 120 volt freezers. This is expandable to ~28 hours of backup by using 5 External Battery Packs instead of 2. The 6KVA and 10KVA systems are large enough to handle the compressor startup current of almost any vaccine refrigerator or ultra low temperature freezer.
The system plugs into a single receptacle typically used with electric dryers (NEMA L6-30R, 200-240 volts, 30 amps) and has both 120 volt and 240 volt receptacles for the refrigerator or freezer to plug into (see below photo).
As long as the correct electric dryer receptacle is already setup at the location, the system is plug and play and can be setup by anyone within 15 minutes with only a Phillips screw driver to remove the safety covers. Even the external battery packs snap into each other without tools.
